Sumedang\u2014Monday, June 10, 2026. Twenty-one lecturers from the Library and Information Science Study Program at Padjadjaran University (Unpad) attended the Socialization and Briefing for Unpad’s Community Service Program (KKN) for the July\u2013August 2026 period. This hybrid activity took place at Bale Sawala, Unpad Jatinangor Campus, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM WIB. This strategic meeting was held as part of intensive preparation for the Field Supervisor Lecturers (DPL) before the students were officially deployed directly to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head of the Integrated Teaching Office, Dr. Laina Rafianti, SH., MH., explained that this year’s Community Service Program (KKN) carries the concept of the 2026 Thematic Literacy Community Service Program (KKN) in close collaboration with the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI). The selection of KKN locations, or loci, is based precisely on West Java Provincial Government data on poverty levels in the region. Based on this data, the KKN distribution area will focus on areas with extreme poverty levels, including 24 locations in Cianjur Regency, 8 in Sukabumi Regency, 28 in Tasikmalaya Regency, and 14 in Garut Regency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this period, Unpad KKN involves a total of 74 DPL (Executive Student Internship Program) and 1,728 students, consisting of 1,555 regular students and 173 conversion students. Each DPL will mentor a group of 20 to 21 students\u2014a significant increase compared to the previous period. During the month-long fieldwork, the students are required to focus on three key themes crucial to the community: waste management, information literacy, and poverty alleviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding technical policies and regulations, Dr. Dianne Amor Kusuma, M.Pd., explained that Community Service Program (KKN) is a compulsory university course worth three credits. At the end of the program, the Community Service Program (DPL) holds the crucial responsibility of uploading student grades to the SIAT system by August 14, 2026, and submitting financial accountability reports.<\/p>\n\n\n

Full support also came from the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Dr. Drs. Herman Suryatman, M.Si., and the Head of the West Java Provincial Social Service, Neneng Komara Nengsih, S.E., M.A.P. In his briefing, Dr. Herman Suryatman reminded the students to generate creative ideas that have a real impact on poverty reduction, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal safety while on duty. In addition to focusing on thematic programs, this year’s KKN also promoted the “Anti-Violence Community Service” movement to ensure a safe work environment free from bullying and sexual violence, which is also covered by BPJSTK health insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event concluded with a commendation from the Director of Non-Degree Education at Unpad, drg. Erli Sarilita, S.KG., M.Sc., Ph.D., who thanked the DPLs and partners for their dedication in overseeing this significant collaboration with the West Java Provincial Government. The upcoming event will continue with Phase 1 of the Offline Student Briefing on June 12, 2026, at Bale Santika, followed by an online briefing by the National Library and the Ministry of Cooperatives in early July, and the official farewell ceremony by the Unpad Rector on July 10, 2026.
