Regina Wati Silalahi and Ikhsan Sirojul Wahhaj, students of the Library and Information Science Program (PSI), Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, together with their supervising lecturers Prijana and Dr. Evi Nursanti Rukmana, have published a scientific article entitled \u201cInformation-Seeking Model of Geology Engineering Students at Universitas Padjadjaran: A Study of ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge) Theory.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The article appeared in Jurnal Palimpsest: Journal of Information and Library Science Vol. 15, Issue 2, 2024<\/strong>. The study examines the information-seeking behavior of geology engineering students using the ASK (Anomalous State of Knowledge) theory developed by Nicholas J. Belkin in 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The background of this research lies in the rapid development of information technology, which has transformed the way individuals search, access, and utilize information. Understanding students\u2019 information-seeking behavior is crucial to support learning, research, and knowledge development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected from 161 respondents<\/strong>, geology engineering students at Universitas Padjadjaran, through an online questionnaire distributed via WhatsApp. Data analysis was performed using Pearson Product Moment correlation tests with SPSS software to identify static and dynamic information-seeking patterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The findings show that geology engineering students predominantly engage in dynamic information-seeking<\/strong>, meaning they explore topics broadly and integrate information from multiple sources. This indicates that students\u2019 knowledge is dynamic, contributing to critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize information across different subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article contributes to academic understanding of students\u2019 information-seeking behavior in the digital era and provides insights for improving information services in university libraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education)<\/strong> and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)<\/strong>, highlighting the importance of effective information management to support higher education and technology-based knowledge development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
