BANDUNG \u2013 A student from the Library and Information Science (PSI) Study Program at Fikom Unpad, Yunnisa Nabila Putri Abduh, has successfully published her research findings titled \u201cNature\u2019s Classroom: Enhancing Student Literacy Skills through Immersive Learning Experiences.\u201d Conducted in Bandung in 2025, this research was supervised by lecturers Dr. Rully Khairul Anwar and Dr. Elnovani Lusiana. The study specifically analyzes the effectiveness of literacy activities within a nature-based learning model at a local nature school in Bandung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research is based on the concept of nature schools, which apply a learning model centered on exploration in natural environments. This model combines hands-on exploration with theoretical knowledge to provide students with a balanced set of skills. Yunnisa aimed to analyze how students’ literacy skills are enhanced in this learning model and to identify any obstacles they might face during its implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a qualitative approach and a case study method, Yunnisa collected data to gain an in-depth understanding of the literacy learning process at the nature school. The research findings show that literacy activities in a nature-based learning model are proven to be effective in improving students’ reading and writing skills. The process involves three main stages: reading literature for initial knowledge, exploring the surrounding environment to broaden their perspective, and applying the results of their reading and exploration into writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite these successes, the research also identified several obstacles in the implementation process. These challenges include differences in student abilities, where some students read faster or slower than others, as well as difficulties in communicating what they have read and vice versa. These challenges highlight the need for a more personalized and adaptive approach to literacy education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study concludes that nature-based learning is a promising method for improving literacy. However, to achieve optimal results, these challenges must be addressed with appropriate strategies. The findings, published in the Socio Politica<\/em> Journal, provide an important contribution for educators who wish to implement similar methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This research aligns with two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, SDG 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. This study supports this goal by demonstrating an innovative and effective learning model for improving literacy, which is a cornerstone of quality education. Second, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, which focuses on empowerment and social inclusion. By identifying obstacles in the literacy process, the research implicitly helps to reduce learning disparities among students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
