The Library and Archives Office of Bandung Regency held a \u201cLiteracy Campaign\u201d under the theme Strategies to Enhance the Reading Culture of Society<\/em>. One of the main speakers at the event was Asep Saeful Rohman, M.I.Kom., a lecturer at the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This literacy campaign was organized in response to the 2023 Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) of Bandung Regency, which scored 53.70, categorized as moderate. The results highlighted the need for concrete efforts to strengthen literacy facilities and practices in line with established indicators. In his presentation, Asep Saeful Rohman, M.I.Kom. shared practical strategies to enhance reading culture, emphasizing the importance of public access to literacy resources, the role of educational institutions, and libraries as local literacy centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through his contribution, the campaign is expected to encourage the community to gain better access to books, non-book literacy materials, and digital reading resources. He also stressed that improving reading interest is not only about the number of materials available but also about the relevance of content to local needs and the awareness of literacy\u2019s benefits in daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity reflects Bandung Regency\u2019s commitment to fostering an environment that supports intellectual growth, strengthens literacy skills, and develops a sustainable reading culture across all levels of society. However, challenges remain, such as the uneven distribution of reading materials and limited literacy facilities in certain areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This literacy campaign strongly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 \u2013 Quality Education, as it promotes lifelong learning opportunities and equitable access to education and information. With the support of stakeholders, including universities, local governments, and the community, the reading culture in Bandung Regency is expected to grow stronger and more sustainable.
