Jatinangor — Thursday, May 21, 2026. Another remarkable achievement on the national stage has been carved out by students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The ‘Barista Lembur’ team, consisting of three students from the Library and Information Science Program, class of 2023 — Bagas Pratama, Rizqi Lukmanul Hakim, and Naomi Ursula Prastilia — successfully claimed 2nd Place at the prestigious library innovation competition, Liblicious Epicentrum 2026. This outstanding achievement was officially announced at the awarding ceremony held on Thursday (21/5/2026).
In the competition, the Barista Lembur team submitted a visionary program proposal titled “Advancing Children’s Library Services through Kids’ Corner with PROLOG: An Integrated Approach to Social-emotional Resilience and Bullying Prevention within Children’s Space.” The idea was designed as a concrete solution to the bullying crisis and the negative impacts of digitalization — such as device doomscrolling — that are increasingly eroding empathy among elementary school-aged children. The team successfully reoriented the function of school libraries, long considered rigid and passive, into an active and dynamic space for psychological protection.
The core innovation is divided into two pillars of an integrated literacy ecosystem: a physical Kids’ Corner area within the school library, and a digital extension system called PROLOG (Program Literasi Orang Tua Genius) for the home environment. Within the Kids’ Corner, children are actively engaged as knowledge producers through the ‘Penulis Cilik’ (Young Writers) program, creating participatory multi-format collections organized by emotional categories. Literacy activities within this safe space are carried out using a developmental bibliotherapy approach, operating in a five-week resilience cycle to build children’s social-emotional strength.
To ensure that the internalization of values is not interrupted at the school gate, the PROLOG digital platform bridges learning into the domestic sphere. The application provides interactive audio-visual reading resources tailored to children’s cognitive developmental stages according to Jean Piaget’s theory. Its content integrates emotional literacy materials harmoniously with Sundanese local wisdom values — silih asah, silih asih, silih asuh. Additionally, parents are equipped with a “Halo Librarian” consultation feature to discuss personalized reading curation needs for their children.
The implementation of this program is further strengthened through a multi-level collaboration model involving various strategic stakeholders and external professional communities. The Barista Lembur team partnered with expert organizations such as the child psychology community Speak Up Now, inclusive visual studio Tab Space Bandung for graphic literacy development, and the parenting technology network Parentinc Indonesia. This cross-sector integration ensures that bullying prevention and psychological intervention carried out within school libraries maintain accountability, scientific validity, and sustainable impact.
The achievement of second place at the regional level stands as concrete evidence of the quality and solution-oriented sharpness of Library and Information Science students at Fikom Unpad, under the intensive guidance of their supervising lecturer, Dr. Kusnandar, M.Si. Through the accomplishments of the Barista Lembur team, it is hoped that the Kids’ Corner and PROLOG-based model for strengthening social-emotional resilience can soon be piloted broadly across elementary schools to break the chain of bullying among children in Indonesia.
