Library and Information Science Student from Unpad Participates in Leadership Training in South Korea

David Restu Mahesa, a student from the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), participated in the Leadership Training and Intern organized by Sinchon UBF in South Korea. The event took place from July 2 to August 11, 2024, in Wonju and Seoul. This program aims to develop leadership skills as well as a deep understanding of Korean culture.

Motivation and Reason for Participating

David Restu Mahesa’s primary motivation stems from his deep interest in Korean culture, particularly K-Pop, and his desire to further his knowledge of the Korean language and culture. “I have been fascinated by Korean culture since childhood, and in high school, I started learning the Korean language and culture on my own,” David shared. His dream of visiting Yonsei University, one of his most admired institutions, also strongly motivated his participation.

Activities During the Program

During the program, David engaged in various activities, including analyzing and processing company data to determine consumer needs and achieve company targets. Additionally, he learned leadership techniques, resource management, and effective communication with consumers. Outside of the main activities, David visited iconic locations in South Korea, such as Yonsei University, the Hongdae area, Doremi Traditional Market, and other significant sites.

Experience and Feelings During the Event

David expressed immense happiness at the opportunity to visit South Korea and participate in this program. “I am very excited and couldn’t believe I was able to visit South Korea and see the places I’ve always dreamed of,” said David. This experience has motivated him to continue participating in similar programs in the future.

Message and Hopes for the Future

David hopes that more of his peers will take the initiative to participate in similar activities. “Don’t be afraid to start something on your own, because with strong courage and determination, you can achieve it,” he said. He hopes that this experience will help him grow further and bring pride to his program and fellow students at Unpad. He also wishes that his peers can follow in his footsteps and experience the same benefits.
