Lecturers from the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (Fikom Unpad) visited the Collection Development Working Group of the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI) on Jalan Raya Salemba, Jakarta, on Friday, August 16, 2024. The visit aimed to receive a book donation that will be distributed to the Kadujaya Village Library in Jatigede.
Book Donation Handover
During the visit to the National Library of Indonesia, Dr. Saleha Rodiah and Evi Nursanti Rukmana, M.I.Kom., represented the program. They met with the Collection Development Working Group to receive the donation. After receiving the books, the program team will classify and catalog them. Once the process is complete, the books will be donated to the Kadujaya Village Library.


This book donation is part of the program’s 2024 Community Service Initiative. The initiative focuses on enhancing village libraries by providing them with valuable resources and support.
The Role of the National Library in Collection Development
Dedy Laisa, a librarian from the National Library of Indonesia, explained that this book donation activity is related to the Deposit and Collection Development Working Group. This working group plays a role in gathering book collections from various sources, including donations from the public, and redistributing them for the benefit of the wider community.
“The books we donate come from various sources, including authors, publishers, individuals, and institutions that donate their collections,” said Dwi Dian Nusantari, M.P., a librarian at the National Library of Indonesia. Andre Ganova, S.I.Pust., added, “The donors include writers, publishers, individuals, institutions, or people who are relocating and then donate their collections here.”
Purpose of Book Donation for Kadujaya Village Library
The donated books will significantly benefit the Kadujaya Village community, especially those who frequently use the village library. In addition to enriching the library’s collection, this initiative aims to strengthen the Collection Development Working Group. The group is committed to ensuring that books donated by the public are returned to serve the community.
This book donation is expected to improve access to information and literacy in Kadujaya Village. Additionally, it will support the village library’s growth as a local knowledge hub.
