Students from Universitas Padjadjaran conducted a study on the implementation of service and staff components in the SLB Negeri Cicendo Library, based on the National Library Regulation No. 10 of 2023 on National Standards for Special School Libraries.
The research was carried out by Raisya Gita Cahyani, Dian Sinaga, and Asep Saeful Rohman at the SLB Negeri Cicendo Library, Jalan Cicendo No. 2, Babakan Ciamis, Sumur Bandung District, Bandung City, West Java. The findings were officially published in September 2024 in Madani: Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal.
The purpose of this research was to assess the extent to which national library standards are applied at SLB Negeri Cicendo, focusing specifically on the library service and staff components. This evaluation is vital for ensuring compliance with regulations while also supporting inclusive education for students with disabilities.
Using a qualitative descriptive method, the researchers collected data through observation and interviews with the Head of Library and ICT Service Staff. Results revealed that the library had implemented 7 out of 13 indicators: 2 out of 4 service indicators and 5 out of 9 staff indicators.
However, the study also found areas that did not meet the standards, such as limited library promotion activities, lack of staff certification in librarianship, and absence of participation in professional library organizations.
This research is aligned with SDGs 4 (Quality Education) by promoting literacy access for students with disabilities and SDGs 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring inclusive and equitable library services.
