The series of events for the 37th Anniversary of Himaka Fikom Unpad has been held since September 2022. The event consists of various competitions for the public, namely the Scientific Essay Writing Contest and Podcast Contest. Besides that, there are competitions for majors ranging from academic to non-academic competitions.

The talk show session with three presenters presented a discussion on preparations to enter professional work in relevant fields, especially for fresh graduates from Library and Information Science Study Program. Kang Priatna said that organizational experiences would affect us when entering the working world, and it is necessary to form productive habits since college. “The habit during college period will determine the habits in the work world later. If procrastinating on work is a habit during college, it will form like that later,” added Kang Robert.

Pak Kusnandar conveyed a term sparked in his intellectual journey, that interpretation of the librarian profession is not limited by just one, but that librarians are also The Guardian of Civilization, which means that librarians are obliged to protect civilization from information existence. He also said that Library and Information Science Study Program graduates could work anywhere if they were around information management, data management, digital asset management, etc. Kang Priatna said that digital asset management consists of aspects of the company, librarians, and users. Kang Robert responded, “Even though someday it seems like our work is irrelevant to information, the library is still my soul. We can still implement what we have learned during college in the professional world.”

Towards a professional world of work, in addition to preparing hard skills obtained from college, Library and Information Science Study Program students must also prepare soft skills. These soft skills can be obtained from anywhere, like various activities outside of college, for example, participating in committees, organizations, etc. Productive habits must begin to be formed during college so that when entering the working world, we are used to it.

This activity is a Tridharma activity carried out in line with the strategic planning of the university, and faculty and the applicable curriculum in the library and information science study program. (Tsabitah)
