The Library and Information Science Study Program held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Inclusion-Based Community Reading Gardens Model in Supporting SDG’s” at the Gada Membaca Community, Ciamis, on Friday (07/06/2024). This event was held in a hybrid manner, FGD participants attended offline by being guided by Andri Yanto, M.I.Kom online through Zoom Meeting.



Present at this activity were Dr. Elnovani Lusiana, Fitri Perdana, M.I.Kom, and Evi Nursanti R., M.I.Kom (Lecturers of Library and Information Science Study Program), Agus Munawar (Gada Membaca Manager), Dadan Wiadi, S.T., M.T., MMG (Head of Library and Archives Office of Ciamis Regency), Aman Sutiaman (Head of Kawali Sub-District), Winduraja Village and Benteng Village Officials, and Rifki Ahmad (TBM Forum Kab, Ciamis). Also present were community leaders, journalists, literacy activists, school principals, representatives of Bank BJB Kawali, academics, librarians, students, and the general public.



This activity was carried out to find out how far the synergy between academics, business, communities, government, and media in solving social problems in the context of increasing inclusion-based literacy in supporting SDG’s. Andri Yanto, M.I.Kom said that there are three core inclusions, namely 1) Empowerment, 2) Transformation, and 3) In addition to being a place for discussion and exchange of opinions, it is also hoped that this event can be a forum for creating more involvement of various sectors to support libraries, especially community reading parks as community mobilizers.


Agus Munawar said that the Gada Membaca Community is very committed to becoming a community of literacy and technology-based community activists through various programs, facilities, and collaborations carried out. He also said that stakeholder commitment is needed to maximize Komunitas Gada Membaca as a learning center in empowering the community. In line with that, FGD participants also expressed their views and commitments related to the issues discussed, the forms of support provided, the various benefits they felt from collaboration with Gada Membaca, and future cooperation programs that will be built.
The model of reading parks based on social inclusion developed can be a role model for libraries and community reading parks throughout Indonesia to be able to become community learning centers. Improve insight, skills, and public welfare around it. As well as responding to social problems to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
