The Department of Advocacy and Student Services organized the Pre-Event Welcoming Day on July 28, 2024. This event was attended by 73 new students of the Library and Information Science Study Program through Zoom Meeting. The Pre-Event Welcoming Day serves as an introductory session about the campus environment held prior to the Orientation and Campus Introduction, commonly known as Ospek. The purpose of the Pre-Event Welcoming Day is to prepare everything needed to ensure the Orientation and Campus Introduction runs smoothly and memorably for the new students.
The Pre-Event Welcoming Day began with an opening by Farah Najdah and Khairani Azahra Helmy as the hosts, followed by a welcome speech from Mrs. Evi Nursanti Rukmana, M.I.Kom, the Advisor of the Library and Information Science Association. The event continued with the first presentation about Padjadjaran University, the Faculty of Communication Sciences, and the Library and Information Science Study Program, delivered by Faisa Fahrul Rozi and Nadia Nila Farodisa. The presentation covered the history of Padjadjaran University, its faculties, campus location, gates, campus access points, maps, digital platforms, iconic places, and various facilities available at Padjadjaran University. The faculty-related presentation included the history of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, its study programs, student activity units (UKM), maps, and available facilities. The presentation on the Library and Information Science Study Program covered the program’s history, graduate profiles, career prospects, the Library and Information Science Student Association (Himaka), attributes, greetings, and the program’s jargon. The event continued with the second presentation, which discussed Jatinangor, including street names, recommended places for accommodation, dining spots, cafes, shopping places, and a PowerPoint presentation on how to use Beem and campus transportation (Odong), presented by Farah Najdah and Irma Nurrobiatus Sa’adah.
After the presentations, the event continued with a game session aimed at increasing participation and providing a fun atmosphere for the new students. The new students were then given the opportunity to ask questions during an interactive sharing session. The Pre-Event Welcoming Day concluded with a confession session where the new students sent messages and impressions about the event.
