Jatinangor – Monday, May 5, 2026. A distinguished honor has been achieved within the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Universitas Padjadjaran. Asep Saeful Rohman, M.I.Kom., a senior lecturer in the Library and Information Science Study Program, has officially been awarded the Satyalancana Karya Satya honor by the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The award was presented during the National Education Day Commemoration Ceremony held on Monday, May 4, 2026, in front of the Universitas Padjadjaran Rectorate Building in Jatinangor.
This award serves as the highest form of state appreciation for the extraordinary dedication and loyalty demonstrated by Mr. Asep Saeful Rohman over more than 20 years of service as a civil servant. Serving from 2005 to 2026, he has consistently displayed high integrity not only as an educator but also in various strategic roles within the university. His internal contributions include serving as a Laboratory Instructor, Secretary to the Head of the Fikom Library, Secretary of the Study Program, and Head of the Laboratory.
Beyond his academic tenure, his influence extends to active leadership in numerous national and regional professional organizations. He currently serves as a Mentor for HMPII, an executive member of ISIPII and APTIPI, and a member of the West Java Provincial Library Board. Furthermore, his dedication is evident through his role as a regional board member of IPI West Java and a Mentor for the West Java Community Reading Center (TBM) Forum, reflecting a profound commitment to community literacy development.
The professional contributions of Mr. Asep Saeful Rohman are widely recognized by national government agencies. He is frequently involved in strategic programs at the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI), particularly in drafting regulations, standards, and librarianship guidelines. Additionally, he serves as a strategic partner for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) and various Library and Archives Services across West Java, Banten, Central Java, and DKI Jakarta for both supervisory and scientific research programs.
As an academic, he remains deeply committed to the “Tri Dharma” of higher education, teaching, research, and community service. He is also a trusted reviewer and editorial board member for several prominent scientific journals in Indonesia. This comprehensive dedication positions him as a role model capable of aligning academic responsibilities with practical contributions to the advancement of library and information sciences at a national level.
This achievement is expected to inspire the entire academic community of the Library and Information Science Study Program at Fikom Unpad to continue enhancing their service quality and professionalism. The Satyalancana Karya Satya award stands as a testament that consistency in work and meaningful contribution to society will always receive due recognition from the state.
