Nurul Fadilla, a student of the Library and Information Science Program (PSI), Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, together with supervising lecturers Rully Khairul Anwar, Siti Chaerani Djen Amar, and Evi Nursanti Rukmana, has published a scientific article entitled “The Role of Librarians in Reading and Writing Literacy for Children with Hearing Disabilities through Google Scholar Database.”

The article was published in Jurnal Visi Pustaka, Vol. 26, No. 2, August 2024. The study highlights the crucial role of librarians in providing reading and writing literacy to children with hearing disabilities.

The research employed a narrative literature review, analyzing previous studies published in national and international journals from 2013 to 2023. The findings show that librarians have responsibilities as planners, implementers, and supervisors of library services, including for children with disabilities. Librarian creativity is key to delivering basic literacy effectively, ensuring that children with hearing disabilities can access and understand information optimally.

When executed effectively, librarians help the library achieve its mission of providing inclusive services to all community members, supporting information access for every child without exception. This article is also relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), emphasizing the importance of inclusive library services in supporting literacy for children with disabilities.
