Students from the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University conducted research on the relationship between digital literacy, information quality, and technology utilization in supporting educational improvement and digital-based innovation development. This research is in the spotlight because it stems from the major challenges of the digital era, which requires the community to have good information literacy skills.
The research was conducted by Yonna Ananda, Edwin Rizal, and Asep Saeful Rohman, involving academic studies in West Java. The results of the study were officially published on December 16, 2024, in the Pustaka Budaya Journal as part of the scientific contribution of Unpad students in the field of digital literacy and education.
This study uses bibliometric analysis to map the development of research on “information quality” indexed in Scopus from 2014 to 2024. By analyzing 4,085 documents, this study highlights publication trends, citation patterns, author collaboration, keyword emergence, and geographical distribution that reflect developments in this field.
The results of the study show a significant increase in the number of publications, with 2023 being the peak with 638 publications. Researcher Manaf Al-Okaily was identified as the most productive contributor with 19 publications. Meanwhile, the keyword “information quality” appeared 34 times as the dominant theme in the research. In terms of geographical distribution, China was the country with the most contributions (793 documents), followed by the United States and Indonesia.
In addition, the study found that the journal Sustainability Switzerland published the most articles related to this topic, namely 82 publications. Collaboration between researchers also appeared to be strong, especially in the Asian region, which shows the high level of interest and regional dominance in the study of information quality.
According to the research team, these results show that the bibliometric approach can provide valuable insights into the structure and development of research in the field of information quality. This study not only identifies influential contributors and emerging research themes but also opens up space for the development of interdisciplinary research in the future.
This research is closely related to SDG 4 (Quality Education) because it encourages the improvement of digital literacy and the utilization of academic information, as well as SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) because it emphasizes the importance of digital technology infrastructure in supporting research and education. The results of this research are expected to serve as a basis for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to strengthen the quality of education while building a more innovative research ecosystem.
