Andri Yanto,S.Sos., M.I.Kom., Lecturer of the Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran, Contributes to Library Empowerment in Banyumas

Bandung, 2025 – The National Library of Indonesia, through the Center for the Development of School, Madrasah, and University Libraries, organized the Library Empowerment Strengthening Program for School, Madrasah, and University Libraries in Banyumas Regency. The event was held at the Library Hall of Universitas Islam Negeri Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto and was attended by 109 participants, including school and madrasah librarians, university librarians, as well as village and urban librarians who had received high-quality book assistance.

The program was designed to strengthen collaboration among libraries by emphasizing the importance of open communication and active participation. Through capacity-building sessions, discussions, and joint action planning, the National Library of Indonesia provided a platform for cross-sector partnerships to accelerate literacy transformation toward Golden Indonesia 2045.

On this occasion, Andri Yanto, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., lecturer of the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, served as one of the keynote speakers. He highlighted the importance of empowering collaboration among libraries, where village libraries can partner with nearby schools and universities to build a literacy ecosystem that is community-centered and sustainable.

The event also featured several key figures, including Agus Anggraito, A.P., M.Si., Head of the Bureau of General Administration, Planning, and Finance at Universitas Islam Negeri Prof. K.H. Saifuddin Zuhri Purwokerto; Nurkhikmah, S.Ag., M.Si.; and Dra. Mariana Ginting, M.M., Senior Librarian at the National Library of Indonesia. Their presence further strengthened the cross-sector collaboration in advancing library empowerment in Banyumas.

The involvement of lecturers from the Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran in this national-level initiative demonstrates a strong commitment not only to academic excellence but also to contributing directly to community literacy empowerment. This participation affirms the relevance of library and information science in supporting librarian capacity-building and advancing sustainable development.

This initiative also contributes to the SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing the capacity of librarians to provide quality literacy services to communities. At the same time, it supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration among government institutions, academia, educational organizations, and local communities to collectively promote literacy and sustainable development.

With its collaborative spirit, this program marks an important milestone in transforming libraries into centers of literacy, innovation, and community empowerment, in line with Indonesia’s vision for Golden Indonesia 2045.
