Dr. Yunus Winoto, Lecturer of PSI FIKOM UNPAD, Leads Workshop “Understanding Turnitin: Avoiding Plagiarism in Your Writing” for Postgraduate Students

Bandung, September 12, 2025 — The Library and Information Science (PSI) Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), through the Office of Library Management in collaboration with the Office of Non-Degree Education and Professional Development, organized a workshop entitled “Understanding Turnitin: Avoiding Plagiarism in Your Writing”. The program was specifically designed for Master’s and Doctoral students to enhance academic writing quality and prevent plagiarism practices.

The workshop featured Dr. Yunus Winoto, lecturer of the Library and Information Science Program at FIKOM UNPAD, together with Sri Rakhmiyati, S.Sos., M.Ikom, librarian at UNPAD’s Office of Library Management, as the main instructors. It took place at the UNPAD Graduate School Building, Jl. Dipatiukur No. 35 Bandung, 3rd Floor Room 3B, on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 13:00 to 16:00 WIB.

Participation was limited to 30 students to ensure interactive learning. Master’s and Doctoral students from UNPAD joined the workshop free of charge, while external participants were charged Rp200,000. All attendees were required to bring their own laptops to practice Turnitin usage hands-on.

Through this program, students gained a deeper understanding of academic ethics, strategies to avoid plagiarism, and practical skills in utilizing Turnitin software to improve both integrity and the quality of scholarly writing.

This initiative contributes directly to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening academic capacity, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting honesty, transparency, and integrity in academia.

The workshop underscores PSI FIKOM UNPAD’s commitment to supporting postgraduate students in becoming ethical researchers with global competitiveness, while reinforcing UNPAD’s contribution to advancing sustainable knowledge development. (SNA)
