National Library of Indonesia Strengthens the Empowerment of School, Madrasah, and University Libraries

Jakarta, 2025 – The National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas RI), through the Center for the Development of School, Madrasah, and University Libraries (P3SMPT), has organized a program entitled Strengthening the Empowerment of School, Madrasah, and University Libraries. The initiative is designed to reinforce the role of libraries as literacy hubs and collaborative spaces that contribute to building a more knowledgeable and competitive society.

During the event, keynote speaker Andri Yanto, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. emphasized the importance of the concept of an “empowered library” that is capable of being independent. He highlighted that village libraries, in particular, can leverage the resources of nearby schools and universities to create a mutually supportive literacy ecosystem. This collaboration is expected not only to bridge institutions but also to encourage literacy programs that are closer to the community and more sustainable.

The program served as a strategic forum for various types of libraries to receive guidance, engage in discussions, and design joint action plans. By bringing together libraries across different levels and institutions, Perpusnas RI reaffirmed its commitment to fostering collaborative platforms that can accelerate the transformation of the national literacy movement.

Perpusnas RI also underscored that library empowerment cannot be carried out in isolation. Synergy between schools, madrasahs, universities, and village libraries is essential to ensure that library services reach broader segments of society while positioning libraries as key drivers of literacy at the community level.

This initiative is also in line with the vision of achieving Golden Indonesia 2045, where literacy and education form the foundation of national development. Empowered, independent, and collaborative libraries are expected to play a vital role in preparing future generations who are innovative, resilient, and globally competitive.

Through the Strengthening Library Empowerment program, Perpusnas RI reinforces the idea that libraries are not merely information providers, but also agents of social transformation that support education, expand knowledge, and build the nation’s competitiveness for the future.
