The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, welcomed a visit from the Library and Islamic Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, on Monday, October 18, 2024. The event took place in the Moestopo Hall from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and was attended by 127 students. The program was moderated by Fitri Perdana, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., lecturer of the Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran.
The event began with an opening speech from Andriyanto, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., representing the Library and Information Science Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran. In his remarks, he warmly welcomed the students of the Library and Islamic Information Science Program to the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. He expressed that it was an honor for Fikom Unpad to host this visit, hoping that students would gain valuable insights about Universitas Padjadjaran in general and Fikom in particular. He further explained that graduates of the Library and Information Science Program pursue careers across various sectors under the broader title of information professionals. The profession is no longer limited to librarianship but also includes roles such as document controllers, digital asset managers, and records managers. He encouraged the students to take pride in the profession they will embrace after graduation.
The program continued with the screening of the Fikom Unpad profile video, watched together by all participants. The next agenda included an in-depth presentation about the study program, facilities, student activity units, admission pathways to Universitas Padjadjaran, and the learning system, delivered by Renata Anisa, M.M., Head of the Public Relations Laboratory.
Following this, a public lecture was presented by Fitri Perdana, S.Sos., M.I.Kom., on the theme “Communication Skills for Information Professionals.” She emphasized that communication is essential to express needs and achieve goals. She also highlighted that communication serves as a pathway to solve problems, even though miscommunication can sometimes be the cause of problems.
