Jatinangor-Monday, December 15, 2025. The SCALE (Smart Citation and Anti-plagiarism Learning Experience) activity was held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Bale Rucita, Padjadjaran University. This activity was part of the final exam project for the Public Relations of Information Institutions Class A course, which aimed to improve students’ ability to manage references efficiently and provide an understanding of plagiarism in scientific work.
The workshop was attended by 24 participants, all Padjadjaran University students. The workshop featured Dr. Rully Khairul Anwar as a resource person and Dini Salma Hafizhah as moderator. The workshop began with remarks from the Library Management Office (Kandaga) delivered by Ms. Sri Rahmiyati, S.Sos., M.I.Kom, the service coordinator of the Padjadjaran University Library Management Office. Kandaga’s presence at this event emphasized the library’s role as a center for information services and a primary supporter of students’ academic activities.
The SCALE workshop was motivated by the importance of understanding the ethics of scientific writing, particularly in the use of information sources and appropriate citations. This workshop was also held as part of an effort to promote Unpad’s Kandaga reference service, which provides assistance to students in source search, reference management, and utilization of academic collections and databases.
The workshop was interactive, with material presentations and practical sessions. Speakers presented on smart citations and citation management in Mendeley. Participants were also introduced to the use of Mendeley as a tool in the reference service for managing sources and systematically organizing citations.
Through the SCALE workshop, it is hoped that Padjadjaran University students will become more familiar with and utilize Unpad’s Kandaga reference service as a partner in the scientific writing process. This activity is expected to foster an academic culture of integrity and improve the quality of scientific writing within Padjadjaran University.
