Bandung, February 2025 — A recent study by Fitri Perdana and Dian Sinaga from the Library and Information Science Program at Universitas Padjadjaran highlights the role of the PODSESIF (Inspirational History Podcast) program in enriching information resources and making history more interactive for the public.
Developed by the Gedung Sate Museum, a smart museum in Bandung that leverages modern technology for public education, PODSESIF is a weekly podcast discussing various historical topics from Indonesia, West Java, and the world—both ancient and contemporary. Delivered in a casual yet educational manner, the podcast is regularly uploaded on Spotify and Instagram.
Using a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and literature studies, the research found that the museum has successfully used digital media to attract younger audiences. To date, PODSESIF has released three seasons with 13 episodes, and more content is planned in the future.
The program demonstrates that knowledge is not only obtained through formal education but also through non-formal sources such as museums. With easily accessible audio content, the public can broaden their historical knowledge anytime and anywhere, while also being entertained.
The study also emphasizes the importance of production stages, from planning topics, writing scripts, recording in soundproof studios, to audio editing. The final product is enhanced with sound effects and attractive visuals, making it more engaging and easier for audiences to absorb.
This digital innovation supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing inclusive access to historical literacy, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by encouraging the use of digital technology to advance museum services.
Through PODSESIF, the Gedung Sate Museum further strengthens its role as an educational, recreational, and historical information hub for the wider community.
