Naresh Aurelia Berliana, or familiarly called Naresh, is a student of the Library and Information Science study program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. Naresh is the winner of UnpadPreneur Batch 1 funding in 2023. In addition, Naresh managed to become a recipient of the Bank Indonesia Regular Scholarship in 2024.
Independent Entrepreneurship and UnpadPreneur
Since she was in high school, Naresh has had the desire to become an entrepreneur. Naresh got his entrepreneurial interest from his parents who are in the convection business. This interest developed into a motivation for Naresh to seek insight into entrepreneurship while studying at Padjadjaran University to continue his parents’ business.
Before joining the UnpadPreneur program, Naresh participated in Wirausaha Merdeka, one of the Independent Campus programs organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Initially, Naresh felt insecure because she did not have enough knowledge. That fear and doubt became an obstacle for him in starting a business.
“The biggest reason for me to join Wirausaha Merdeka is honestly that I want to try starting a business but still feel like I don’t have enough knowledge. Finally, I found out about the Wirausaha Merdeka program and was immediately interested in registering. At that time, I was also encouraged by the Library and Information Science study program to join the program, because the requirements were at least third semester,” said Naresh.
After participating in the Wirausaha Merdeka program, she joined Unpad’s entrepreneurship development program, UnpadPreneur Batch 1. The business idea that Naresh had while participating in the Wirausaha Merdeka program, she brought to the UnpadPreneur program. The business idea received a positive response, Naresh managed to get funding for her business through the UnpadPreneur Batch 1 program.
Lomoco which stands for Longterm, Modern, and Confident became Naresh’s first clothing and accessories business brand. Until now, Naresh still manages his own business in the midst of his busy life as a student. Managing time between lecture activities and taking care of business is a challenge for Naresh. Even so, Naresh remains focused on developing her business to achieve greater profits.
Seeking Knowledge Through Bank Indonesia Scholarship
In 2024 Naresh was selected for the Bank Indonesia scholarship program. For her, the scholarship is not just about getting pocket money, more than that, she has the opportunity to add new relationships and knowledge that he can use to develop his business.
Her struggle to get the scholarship was certainly not easy. Naresh had to go through stage by stage with full attention, starting from filing, making essays, to interviews. It is not a struggle if it does not encounter obstacles, and Naresh when going through the selection stages of the Bank Indonesia scholarship.
“There are definitely obstacles. First, the collection of files at that time had to be collected online and physically to the SBA (Academic Subdivision). But fortunately, at that time the SBA gave relief to collect via email because it was outside Jatinangor. Second, the announcement of passing the first stage selection and interview preparation was too close together, so the interview preparation was only given two days”, explained Naresh
All the time, sweat, and energy Naresh expended eventually paid off. A happy feeling came over Naresh when she was announced to have passed the selection of the Bank Indonesia 2024 Regular Scholarship program. It wasn’t just the announcement of passing the selection that made Naresh happy, but being part of GenBI.
GenBI is a community of Bank Indonesia scholarship recipients filled with outstanding young people from all over Indonesia. By being part of this community, Naresh hopes to achieve his initial goal in joining the scholarship, which is to gain new knowledge and relationships to develop his business.
Provision for Success
Independent Entrepreneurship, UnpadPreneur, and Bank Indonesia Scholarships that she has participated in have made a deep impression on Naresh. she learned to be focused, thorough, diligent, and smart in managing time in doing all his work. Naresh believes that his success today is the result of evaluating her failures in the past. Therefore, it is important to always improve yourself in order to achieve higher goals.
“My message to my friends is that it is better to try and fail than not to try at all,” Naresh said.
Through Naresh’s story, we can know that passion, perseverance, and great motivation can lead us to great achievements. In addition, mental and strong determination are also very necessary to achieve success in everything. Keep going and never be afraid to try!
