Bandung, 2023 — A study conducted by Siti Aminah Julianti, under the supervision of Asep Saeful Rohman, from the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, examined the collaboration between the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Library and the Korean–Indonesia Cultural Corner (KICC) in developing library collections.
The research aimed to understand how the principles of collection development and its stages were implemented within this collaboration, as well as to identify its impacts and challenges. Conducted in 2023 at UPI in West Java, the study applied a descriptive qualitative method, with data gathered through observations and interviews with library managers.
The study revealed that the UPI Library had not yet fully implemented the principles of collection development in the KICC services. One of the main challenges was the lack of effective communication between UPI Library and KICC. This gap led to misalignment in the stages of collection development and limited understanding of collection priorities.
As a result, the collection development process was less efficient and effective. To improve outcomes, the study emphasizes the importance of strengthening communication between UPI Library and KICC, enabling both parties to better understand each other’s needs and expectations. The research also highlights the need for regular evaluations to ensure that the collaboration achieves its intended impact.
This study contributes to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through improved access to knowledge resources, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering effective institutional cooperation.
