The Students of Library and Information Science Study Program Successfully Completed a Data Control Activity at Bina Kreasi Muda Reading Community

Sumedang, October 20, 2024. Students from Library and Information Science Study Porgram through Community Service department, successfully carried out a community service activity titled “Controlling Data.” The event aimed to support the management of the book collection and the arrangement of the Bina Kreasi Muda Reading Community or Taman Bacaan Masyarakat in Kadakajaya Village, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency. This activity took place on October 19-20, 2024, and involved 35 students as volunteers.

During this event, the students carried out various activities, including managing the book collection, labeling, and reorganizing the collection at the Bina Kreasi Muda Reading Community. The main goal of this activity was to improve the comfort and ease of access to information for the community, and to make a real contribution to promoting reading interest among the people of Kadakajaya Village.

Before the controlling data activity began, the volunteers received training three times on October 8, 10, and 15, 2024. This training aimed to equip the students with adequate skills and knowledge in library management and an understanding of public service methods.

This activity also received full support from the local government. The Village Secretary of Kadakajaya attended the event and expressed his appreciation for the volunteers’ initiative and dedication in helping the Bina Kreasi Muda Reading Community. This support from the village government is expected to strengthen the collaboration between the community, government, and academic circles in advancing education and literacy in the village.

It is hoped that community service activities like Controlling Data will inspire students and the public to continue collaborating to improve literacy and develop educational facilities in remote areas.
