A New Hope for the Library and Information Science Study Program Through AQAS International Accreditation

Sumedang—Friday, September 19, 2025. The Library and Information Science Study Program (PSI) is proud to announce that its international accreditation from AQAS (Agency for Quality Assurance by Accreditation of Study Programmes) has been officially valid until December 31, 2029. This recognition is a testament to the program’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing educational standards on par with leading higher education institutions in Europe, while also expanding its international network.

The decision to pursue international accreditation was based on the PSI Program’s vision to continuously grow and expand its academic network. By obtaining accreditation from a reputable agency like AQAS, the program not only gains global recognition but also opens the door to broader collaboration with institutions outside of Indonesia. This recognition is expected to attract international students and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, research, and faculty.

The international accreditation process was conducted rigorously, in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). The study program successfully met all the criteria set by AQAS, demonstrating that its curriculum, facilities, and teaching quality have met strict international standards. Compliance with these criteria guarantees that its graduates are on a level with those from leading universities in Europe.

This accreditation was implemented based on a series of established procedures. Following the Standing Commission’s resolution on December 4, 2023, the assessment process began and was followed by the circulation procedure on September 8, 2025. After an in-depth evaluation, the fulfillment of all requirements submitted by the PSI Program was officially confirmed by the Standing Commission at its meeting on September 8, 2025. This decision marks an important milestone, affirming that the study program has successfully met globally recognized quality standards.

This accreditation achievement is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of the PSI Program’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education. With international accreditation valid until the end of 2029, the program will continue to strive to improve educational quality, foster innovation, and prepare graduates who are not only competent nationally but also globally competitive. This recognition is expected to inspire the entire academic community to continue to excel and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
