Universitas Padjadjaran has released a new study conducted by faculty members and students from the Library and Information Science Program, highlighting global publication trends on Information Quality. This research responds to the challenges of the digital era, where information overload demands accuracy and reliability.
The study, conducted by Yonna Ananda, Edwin Rizal, and Asep Saeful Rohman, analyzed 4,085 international journal articles on information quality indexed in Scopus between 2014 and 2024. Using bibliometric analysis with the VOSviewer software, the research mapped publication trends, author collaborations, and dominant research keywords.
Findings revealed a significant increase in publications, with 2023 marking the peak year (638 articles). China led the contributions with 793 publications, followed by the United States (670) and Indonesia (282). In terms of institutions, Bina Nusantara University emerged as one of the most active contributors in Southeast Asia.
The study also identified Manaf Al-Okaily as the most productive author with 19 publications and highlighted that “Information Quality” and “System Quality” were the most frequent keywords. These results show the increasing importance of information quality in decision-making, business, and digital technology development.
According to lead researcher Yonna Ananda, the study not only maps current academic trends but also points to emerging opportunities. “This bibliometric analysis provides a foundation for future research to explore new areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), social media, and tourism applications,” she stated.
This research also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by contributing to digital literacy and reliable access to knowledge, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by fostering innovative information systems and promoting global research collaboration.
The findings are expected to guide academics, industry leaders, and policymakers in understanding global research directions and leveraging information quality to meet the demands of the digital era.
