BANDUNG, 2024 – A student from the Library and Information Science (LIS) Study Program at Fikom Unpad, Zulfikar Akbar, has published a scientific article titled “Governance of Legal Documents based on Integration with a Legal Documentation and Information Network”. This publication examines the process of governing legal documents and information that are integrated with the Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH) within State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN).
This research was conducted with the support of two lecturers, Prijana, M.Si., and Dr. Saleha Rodiah. This collaboration demonstrates Fikom Unpad’s commitment to encouraging student research that is relevant to supporting legal certainty through integrated document management.
The background of this research is the necessity for legal document management at PTKIN to be integrated with the JDIH in order to support legal certainty. This research aims to describe the process of managing legal documents and information that are integrated with the JDIH within the scope of PTKIN.
To answer this question, this research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and document reviews. Four informants were selected using a purposive sampling approach.
The research results show that the management of legal documents at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung includes three elements (abstraction, processing, and reporting) and four integration phases. This process begins with the preparation of the terms of reference for the formation of JDIH until the inauguration of the jdih.uinsgd.ac.id website by JDIHN. UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung is the first PTKIN to integrate its legal document governance with the JDIH, so it can be a reference for other PTKIN.
This scientific article has been published in Berkala Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi, Vol. 20, No. 2, December 2024. The findings of this research provide valuable insight that a knowledge management approach can be a solution to bridge the wisdom of the past with the present generation, ensuring that traditions remain alive and sustainable.
This research is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely point 4 on Quality Education and point 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This shows that the orderly and regular governance of legal documents can contribute to improving the quality of legal education and strengthening institutions by ensuring equal access to legal information services.
