Fitri Annisa, a student from the Library and Information Science Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, together with Rully Khairul Anwar, Siti Chaerani Djen Amar, and Evi Nursanti Rukmana, published a scientific article in Jurnal LIBRIA Library of UIN Ar-Raniry. The article, titled “Penelitian Komunikasi Interpersonal Pustakawan dengan Pemustaka di Perpustakaan melalui Database Google Scholar dan Dimensions: Narrative Literature Review”, was published in LIBRIA, Vol. 16, No. 2, December 2024.
The study adopts a narrative literature review method using four references from databases Google Scholar and Dimensions, covering the period from 2013 to 2023. This research explores how interpersonal communication between librarians and users plays a vital role in academic libraries.
Findings highlight that interpersonal communication fosters positive relationships between librarians and users, minimizes potential conflicts caused by misunderstandings, and prevents negative perceptions of librarians. Challenges, however, often arise from misperceptions, lack of sensitivity to user needs, and ineffective delivery of information. The study emphasizes the importance of effective interpersonal communication based on equality, positiveness, supportiveness, empathy, and openness as essential librarian skills.
This publication supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by promoting inclusive and effective communication practices within academic libraries.
