Library and Information Science Study Program of Universitas Padjadjaran Enhances Library Services at the Directorate of Settlement and Housing through Collection Processing

Bandung, 2024 – The Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, has successfully completed a collection processing project at the Library of the Directorate of Settlement and Housing, Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia. This initiative was carried out to improve collection organization, enhance metadata quality, and update the library automation system based on SLiMS.

The comprehensive processing activities included ownership stamping, data verification and re-recording, metadata correction, label and barcode printing, and re-shelving of collections. Out of a total of 4,309 items, 4,066 were successfully processed, while 243 items were recorded as missing.

The final results showed significant improvements in collection organization, with a total of 4,537 collection records and 4,929 copies successfully integrated into the library automation system. This achievement is expected to enhance the efficiency of information services and facilitate better access to knowledge for library users.

The project was guided by academic supervisors, namely Dr. Ute Lies Khadijah, S.Sos., M.Si., Dr. Yunus Winoto, M.Pd., and Evi Nursanti Rukmana, M.I.Kom., and involved alumni as well as students of the Library and Information Science Study Program. This cross-generational collaboration highlights the synergy between academics, practitioners, and future information professionals in supporting more professional archive and documentation management.

Beyond improving collection management, this initiative also reflects the commitment of the Library and Information Science Study Program of Universitas Padjadjaran to deliver tangible solutions for partner institutions. The effort not only enhances the quality of library services but also strengthens the role of libraries as adaptive and relevant knowledge hubs.

With this achievement, the Library of the Directorate of Settlement and Housing is expected to optimize its information services and further support national development driven by knowledge and innovation.
